The Parable of the Echoing Vault
There was once a man named Jalen who built his life like a fortress. He had the job, the car, the condo with skyline views. He had followers, upgrades, and a vault hidden beneath his home where he stored everything he thought would prove his worth.
The vault was full: gold watches, rare sneakers, stock certificates, trophies, even old love letters he never sent. Every time he felt insecure, he added more. Every time he felt lonely, he bought more. Every time he felt unseen, he posted more.
But the vault echoed.
No matter how much he stored, the sound inside was hollow. He tried playing music. He tried inviting people in. But the echo remained.
One night, he found an old journal from his grandmother. Inside was a note: "The vault will never sing until you give away the key."
Jalen didn’t understand. But something stirred. So, he tried.
He gave away a pair of shoes to a boy who had none. He paid for someone’s groceries. He forgave a person’s debt owed him. He wrote a letter he never expected to send.
And slowly, the echo changed.
It didn’t disappear but it softened. It began to hum. The vault didn’t feel like a trophy room anymore. It felt like a passage.
One day, he gave away the key entirely to a community center that needed space. The vault became a shelter. The echo became laughter.
And Jalen? He didn’t lose his treasure. He found it.
Moral:
The vault of self-worth will echo until it’s opened. Wealth stored rusts. Wealth shared sings. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. — Matthew 6:19–21
